June 16, 2004 Hello again my friends, Well, I just finished another set of chemo treatments today. I am always so excited when I get a few days off. Today I am very tired, my mouth is awfully sore, my hands & feet feel tingly and wobbly! Ha! Ha! And I can’t taste anything! Not even CHOCOLATE!! Boo Hoo! Ha! Ha! However, I received some GREAT news from my doctor. He said that the cancer count has fallen from 25 to 15!! I think it is supposed to be between 1-6, I think is the normal range. So falling 10 points means that God is answering your prayers! Next week they are doing a cat scan and a pet scan. I am believing God that they won’t find one trace of cancer anywhere! Please believe with me! I KNOW that ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE IF WE JUST BELIEVE. I believe! I am also believing God that I won’t have to go through any radiation. I don’t want anything to further affect my esophagus and vocal chords. Both which rest right next to where the cancer – WAS!! My voice is getting stronger by the day. I try to sing and at tines I can. But I’m not going to push it. I KNOW that God’s timing is perfect and when He wants me to sing I WILL sing! Remember the movie with Jane Russell as stage mother yelling, “Sing out, Louise!” I believe that one day God is going to say to me, “Sing out Tammy Faye, sing out!!” That will be one of the happiest days of my life! Hey, Roe and I are becoming pretty good medical people. Today they didn’t show up to take off my pump, which I carry over my shoulder 2 days a week. So, we figured out how to take it off ourselves! Yeah us! Ha! Ha! The only thing we can’t figure out is how to stop that machine from beeping even though it’s no longer hooked up to me! So we just let her beep!! Ha!! We found out that as long as you wash your hands GOOD you can do about anything! Ha! Ha! I had a wonderful weekend with my son Jay, his wife Amanda, my daughter Tammy Sue and her children, James (15) and Jonathan (13), Roe and me and a few neighborhood kids. Everyone (but me) was in the pool… I have NEVER washed so many towels! No one believes that you can actually use the same towel TWICE! Ha! Wet clothes everywhere and Grandma could not get the smile off her face! It’s the little things that mean so much in this busy life we all lead. Who cares about a few wet towels and wet clothes strewn around when we can all be together! I think it’s time that we put things into proper prospective and quit dwelling on things that don’t really matter… like keeping the house perfect (who for?). So the kids make a little noise running up and down the stairs; so they leave uneaten food in their room, they don’t make their beds… they leave their clothes lying around. I threaten to “get them” but they see the smile behind that threat! When it’s all said and done, what does it really matter? We had a GREAT time; that is all that matters! (continued on next page)

June 16, 2004 As I get older I’m learning to relax and let my perfectionist nature go. Life is a lot more FUN that way! It’s PEOPLE that count, not stuff and things! I use everything! I save nothing! Nothing is sacred anymore as far as stuff! So, ladies… take the plastic covers off the couch… get out those good dishes you have been saving for heaven knows what… wear that good dress you’ve been saving… dig out that good purse! LIVE, LIVE, LIVE!! NOW IS YOUR TIME!
P.S. I still have all my hair! Yeah God! Come on now guys, it’s a girl thing! Ha! Ha! Or is it?? And… come on out to Gateway City Center in Hollywood on August 1st at 6:00PM. See you there! |
