Hello my Friend,
Happy 2006!
We had a wonderful Christmas! Tammy Sue and her children, James 16
and Jonathan 15, Jay, who turned 30 the 18th of Dec. and his wife
Amanda, and Roe and me. I baked a turkey, lots of mashed potatoes
and gravy plus sweet potatoes made with lots of butter and brown
sugar and topped with marshmallows. Baked beans and whole cranberry
sauce completed our meal, well not really, pumpkin pie really
completed our meal! My house was decorated from stem to stern and
Christmas carols had already been echoing through the house for
weeks. It wasn’t about gifts this year; it was about Jesus and each
other.
I do have to tell you about the funniest gift I received. I have a
dear girlfriend who lives in Florida. I have always teased her about
those big plastic flamingos that stand in the yards of many Florida
dwellers. I told her they were “tacky”; well let’s just say I was
not too complimentary of those poor birds that stand there on one
leg. Well she got married a few months ago and in looking for a
suitable gift for the couple that had everything, I found this pink
flamingo duster. It was all dolled up! Pearls around its neck, lots
of bling bling! Ha! Ha! I wrapped it beautifully and sent it on to
her. Well, she LOVED it! She is a pianist and she nestled it in the
corner of her baby grand piano and of course showed it off to
everyone that came to visit. A few days before Christmas, I get this
huge box in the mail from Shirley and JJ. I opened it up and was
screaming and laughing so hard Roe came running out of his office
wondering what was the matter with ME! I pulled out a “life size”
flamingo covered in the brightest pink lights I’ve ever seen, and
yes, it was standing on ONE leg! I didn’t know where in the world to
put the crazy thing…….I didn’t think placing it next to our lighted
manager scene in the front yard would look right, in fact I decided
that outside anywhere was definitely NOT the place for that bird. I
decided just for the fun of it to put him in the hallway. So I found
a spot, placed him there and plugged in his lights. Everyone who
walked in laughed when they saw it and I laughed every time I passed
it. It got to where the first thing I did when it started to get
dark was plug in the lights of the flamingo. By now all my Christmas
decorations are put away till next year but guess what, not my
flamingo! He stands there proudly on his one foot in the hallway
greeting everyone who enters. Well, I might as well tell you the
rest, I LOVE HIM! I’m looking into buying a whole flock of them and
putting them in my front yard! Ha! Ha! I bet I’d be the first one in
North Carolina to have my very own flock of PINK FLAMINGOS! NO! NO!
NO! Roe, I’m only TEASING! Ha! Ha! He just threatened to move
out…..him or the flamingos! Ha! Ha! Shirley blamed JJ! Ha! I have a
sneaky suspicion that they BOTH had a part in it!
Almost every e-mail I receive asks me about my health, which is the
only reason I share health issues with you. The 28th of Dec. I had a
bone scan. As soon as I find out the results I will let you know. I
am looking forward to a positive report. A miracle is instantaneous,
healing is a gradual process, and I KNOW that God is healing me. I
thank you for your continued prayers on my behalf. Oh, and sometime
I’ll tell you what it’s like for a severely claustrophobic person
(me) to lay under a machine with my hands velcroed to my side, my
feet velcroed together and a blanket tightly wrapped around me for
25 minutes!! Ha! Ha! “Hey God, it’s me, Tammy Faye, WHERE ARE
YOU?????”
